About Us

The Government of Bihar is committed to the holistic development of one of India’s most historic and vibrant states. Located in the fertile Gangetic plains, Bihar represents a rich legacy of civilization and learning, being home to ancient centres of knowledge such as Nalanda and Vikramshila. The state also holds deep spiritual significance as the birthplace of Buddhism and Jainism and features prominently in the epic journey described in the Ramayana.

The Government continues to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through flagship initiatives under the Saat Nishchay programme, focusing on youth empowerment, women’s welfare, infrastructure development, education, healthcare services, and agricultural advancement.

Emphasis on transparent and citizen-centric governance is reflected through initiatives like the Right to Public Service Act and the Public Grievance Redressal System, ensuring timely service delivery and accountability. The state has also strengthened women’s participation through reservations in employment and Panchayati Raj Institutions.

Functioning through its 48 departments, the Government of Bihar works towards improving governance systems and enhancing the quality of life for more than 130 million citizens, with a continued vision of inclusive progress and sustainable development.
