Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana (MMRY)

Scheme Overview

The Government of Bihar has launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana on September 2025, with an objective of providing financial assistance to one woman member from every family to start an enterprise/business of her choice. The primary objective of the scheme is to facilitate, support and empower one woman from every family to initiate her preferred income generation activity and establish herself as an entrepreneur.

Financial Assistance

Under this Scheme, financial assistance of ten thousand rupees to one woman from each family is being provided as the first installment to start an enterprise of her choice.

Further, after six months of commencement of the enterprise, an assessment will be conducted, and based on need, additional assistance of up to two lakh rupees in four installments may be provided. Thus, total financial assistance of up to two lakh ten thousand rupees per beneficiary may be extended under the Scheme.

Objectives & Impact

It is designed to strengthen the socio-economic status of women, enhance livelihood opportunities within the state and reduce distress migration by creating sustainable employment avenues locally. For this, development of haat-bazaars across rural and urban areas of the state will be facilitated for marketing opportunity and sale of products manufactured by women entrepreneurs.

Progress Update

From 26 September to 28 November 2026, first instalment of rupees ten thousand has been transferred to 1,56,00,000 beneficiaries, out of which money has been credited in aadhar seeded account of 1,46,75,759 beneficiaries. Further, on 16 February, the first instalment was transferred to 25,00,000 more beneficiaries.
