To ensure the overall development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes,
the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department was
established with effect from April 2007. The Department implements
various welfare programmes for the economic, educational and social
upliftment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Bihar.

Department Objectives
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department is the
nodal department responsible for policy formulation, planning,
coordination and implementation of programmes aimed at the holistic
development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. It strives to
ensure inclusive growth through education, social justice, economic
empowerment and equal opportunities.
