To ensure over all development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes , Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department was created w.e.f. April, 2007. Through this department, many types of special programmes are being run for the economic, educational and social upliftment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Major schemes implemented by the Department are as follows :- 1.Mukhyamantri Chhatrawas Anudan Yojana, 2.Atyachar Niwaran, 3.Mukhyamantri Civil Sewa Protshahan, 4.Awasiya Vidayalaya Yojna, 5.Pradhanmantri Aadarsh Gram Yojna, 6.Prak Priksha Prashikshan kendra, 7.Chhatravriti Yojna, 8.Pustak Adhikosh, 9.Chhatrawas Yojna, 10.Tharuhat Vikas Yojna, 11.Priksha Shulk Pratipurti, 12.Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Yojna, 13.Anusuchit Jati Up Yojna, 14.Anusuchit Janjati Up Yojna, 15.Khadayan Aapurti Yojna
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department has been created to ensure multifaceted development of these sections. The Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department is the nodal Department for overall Policy, Planning and Coordination of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe development programmes.
