Home Department plays a key role in the administration of the State and forms the backbone of Police Administration. The Department is responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing and controlling crime, prosecuting offenders, and overseeing the administration of Fire Services and Prisons.The Department also serves as the nodal department for the State Secretariat Service. In addition, it supervises Home Guards and Fire Services, coordinates matters relating to Parliamentary and State Assembly Elections, maintains liaison with Defence Services, and facilitates military-civil cooperation as well as defence projects within the State.
