Climate and Seasons of Bihar

Bihar has very moderate and pleasant weather condition round the year hence a trip to Bihar can be planned in any of the four seasons and can be well enjoyed as per the weather of the day.

Winter (November to February) is the most pleasant season for planning a trip to Bihar. Winter is not very severe with temperatures raging between4⁰c to 20⁰c and a bright sun keeping the days warm. A large number of festivals are organised during this season.

Summer (March to mid-June) registers the average temperature of 43⁰c. However, the frequent winds and the breeze at the riverbanks at cities as well as in countryside make the weather quite enjoyable. The cultivated lands of paddy, corn and wheat fields alongwith large mango groves offering long spans of greenery and shades make the summer pleasant.

During monsoons (July to September) northern districts generally face good rains. The rainfall (over 1400 mm) along the Sub – Himalayan zone falling under the district of West Champaran has numerous water bodies along with the rivers Gandak and Kosi and small rivulets. The southern districts are very pleasant during monsoon moderate spells of rain making it very enjoyable for tourist and travellers.
