A citizen who desires to obtain any information under the Act, should make an application to the State Public Information Officer (SPIO) of the concerned public authority in writing in English or Hindi or in the official language of the area in which the application is made. The applicant can send the application by post or through electronic means or can deliver it personally in the office of the public authority. The application can also be sent through State Assistant Public Information Officer appointed by the Department of Post at Sub divisional level or other sub-district level. Information can also obtained through JANKARI CALL CENTRE 15311 (See Appendix-ll & lll)
- The applicant must mention the Name, Full Address (with PIN CODE), mobile/Telephone Contact No. and E-mail (if available) in his/her application.
- The applicant must clearly describe the information sought from the Public Information Officer, so that no difficulty be there in reading or understanding it.
- Under the Right to Information Act 2005, the information sought in an application should be related only one matter and the description should not exceed 150 (hundred fifty) words.
- At the time of seeking information the questions of 'why' should not be included in it. Such a question is like seeking justification related to an specific case. Any citizen can seek information from a Public Information Officer, but cannot expect information of the reason as to what was the justification of a certain act or as to why it was done or not done.
- Information regarding the action to be taken in future can be sought under the RTI ACT.
